One morning...

Zara wakes up and sees her baby brother crying. He is sad and does not feel good.

Zara goes to her brother.

"Why are you crying, baby?" asks Zara gently.

The baby cannot tell her. He just cries and cries.

Zara gives her baby brother a big hug.

She wraps her arms around him tight. "It is okay, baby. I love you."

Zara sees Grandpa sitting alone. He looks very sad.

"Hi, Grandpa! Why do you look so sad?" asks Zara.

"I am missing your grandma," says Grandpa quietly. "She is far away."

Zara knows what to do.

Zara runs to Grandpa and gives him a BIG hug.

"Grandpa, I love you! This hug is from me and Grandma," says Zara.

Grandpa's eyes get wet with happy tears. He squeezes Zara tight.

"Thank you, Zara. That hug made me feel so much better!" says Grandpa.

Zara learns something magical.

A hug is not just arms around someone. A hug is a way to say "I love you" without words.

A hug says:

"You are not alone. I care about you. You are special. I love you."

From that day on...

Zara gives big hugs to everyone she sees. When someone is sad, Zara gives them a hug.
