The Goal

Finish the race

Once upon a time...

There was a boy named Alex who loved sports. When his school announced a 5-kilometer race, Alex decided to run it.

"I'm going to train and finish that race!" he told his parents.

The First Week

Alex started running. He ran around the track. He ran through the park. At first, it felt good.

But by day three, his legs hurt. His lungs burned.

"This is too hard," Alex said. "Maybe I should quit."

Coach Ben's Lesson

Alex's coach, Coach Ben, saw him sitting sadly on a bench.

"Why the long face?" asked Coach Ben.

"Running hurts. I don't think I can do this," said Alex.

Coach Ben sat down beside him. "Alex, do you know what perseverance means? It means keeping going even when it's hard. Every runner feels tired. Every runner wants to stop. But the winners are the ones who keep running anyway."

Week Two and Three

Alex didn't quit. He kept running. Some days were easier. Some days were still hard.

He remembered Coach Ben's words: "Keep going."

Alex watched his running times get better. His legs got stronger. He could run farther without stopping.

Race Day!

The morning of the race, Alex felt nervous and excited. Hundreds of kids lined up at the starting line.

The whistle blew. Everyone started running.

Alex ran and ran. At the halfway point, his legs were tired. But he didn't stop.

"Keep going," he told himself.

Around the final corner, he could see the finish line. Alex pushed harder. Faster. Faster!

He crossed the finish line!

The Victory

Alex was exhausted but so proud. Coach Ben gave him a high five.

"You did it! You persevered!" said Coach Ben.

"I almost quit," said Alex.

"But you didn't. That's what makes you strong," said Coach Ben.

What Alex Learned:

Perseverance means not giving up when things get hard. It means trying again and again, even when you want to stop. The hardest part is the beginning. But if you keep going, you become stronger. And that strength stays with you forever.
